MEET OUR TEAM

Jim Hendricks, CFP®

Owner, Certified Financial Planner®

My entire career has been devoted to finance. I received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois in 1994. I became a CPA, and then worked for a privately held firm in various financial capacities and as a controller for a division of a large company. However, even while I was in school for accounting, I knew I didn’t want to spend my career as an accountant.

I decided my calling was to play 1st base for the Cubs. That didn’t work out so well, but I decided my 2nd calling was to become a financial advisor. I joined the industry in 2002 working for a big “Wall Street” firm where there was pressure to generate commissions and a requirement to wear a suit to work every day. I didn’t much care for that stuffy atmosphere, so I decided to start my own firm in 2004, which turned out to be the best career move I ever made. That firm still exists today as Hendricks Wealth and Estate Management, and the plan is to keep this company in existence for decades to come.

I have 3 children, one of whom is in college and the other two in high school. All three of them are doing well charting their own path to success and happiness. They aren’t all necessarily taking their dad’s recommended path of becoming future executives with Hendricks Wealth and Estate Management, but there’s still time.

I like to keep life exciting, and part of my mission is to do something fun every day. Work comes first, but I use my free time to enjoy what life offers outside of my career. That could come from creating something, going for a swim, playing golf, playing a game, playing drums, or playing just about anything. Ever since I was a child, I have been making games out of everything. Creating games is a good way to set goals. Combine setting goals and motivation into a game, and you will find that your desire to win the game will also help you accomplish your goals. I carry this same mindset as a father and as a business owner, and this is the approach that I take with my clients in their quest for financial peace.

I would consider myself to be a highly motivated person. If you get a chance, ask me to tell my story about what prompted this self-motivation. It’s too long for this bio, but it’s a story I like to tell.

Sean Hendricks

Financial Advisor / Chief Compliance Officer

In the dual role of Financial Advisor and Chief Compliance Officer for Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management, my responsibility is to provide honest and ethical financial advice to our clients, and to ensure that the firm continues to operate within the laws and regulations mandated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). I firmly believe that honesty, fairness, and hard work are the only foundation upon which success will stand, and I use this as a guiding principle in every aspect of my life.

Before the formation of Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management, I developed my skills as an attorney for nearly ten years at a nationally recognized Chicago-area law firm, where I was promoted to Senior Associate Attorney. Prior to law school, I spent several years working in consultative sales positions for Fortune 500 companies. My employment history has always required excellence in client-focused roles, and I am proud to continue this approach with Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management. My background in law, combined with over fifteen years of success in client-focused roles, makes my career as a Financial Advisor and Chief Compliance Officer an extension of the skills which I have spent my entire adult life developing.

When I am not at work, you can usually find me spending time with my family (which also includes our two dogs) at our home in Genoa, Illinois. I enjoy taking trips with my family to our cottage in southwest Michigan or catching Cubs or Bears games. As a father of two very energetic boys, I also treasure the brief moments of tranquility sprinkled among the waves of chaos of everyday life.

Nanette Kastner

Office Manager

I joined Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management in August of 2007. I was hired to work 6 hours a week performing rudimentary office tasks. Not surprisingly, my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education did not prepare me for the mysterious and complex world of finances. Through the years, the business continued to grow, my hours increased, and my tasks became more client focused. Basically, I needed to step it up. Jim’s passion for helping clients live a healthy financial life is contagious, and I began to fully appreciate the services he was providing to help people, and I wanted to further add to the equation. This led to me studying more than I ever have in my life, and passing the Series 7 and Series 66 exams to become a financial advisor.

Outside of the office, I enjoy my two girls (also very mysterious & complex) and my puppy. In the fall and winter, I spend many evenings and Saturdays officiating high school basketball. In spring and summer, you will find me on the tennis court or on my bike as much as possible.

Jim Madl

Associate Advisor

I have known Jim for many years and have been a client since he opened his firm in 2004. I have seen how Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management has helped my family’s portfolio grow under Jim’s supervision and advisement and when I had the opportunity to join his team I was happy to make a positive career move.

I have a long and diverse marketing background which I will utilize to assist Hendricks Wealth & Estate Management in daily operations while I navigate the road to become an Investment Advisor Representative. You may see me during your meetings with Jim as he brings me up to speed on the world of wealth management. Jim’s dedication and passion to assisting clients in reaching their financial goals is my inspiration.

In my free time, I enjoy golfing, camping or spending time with my two sons and my amazing wife.

Ash Casey

Assistant Office Manager

As a waitress I paid my way through college taking multiple medical courses and ultimately graduating in Emergency Disaster Management. So, naturally, I ended up in a wealth and estate planning office. My appreciation for patrons carries over to my appreciation for our clients and their well-being. I am excited to delve deeper into the world of finance and it is such a privilege to go on this adventure with the truly genuine team here at Hendricks Wealth and Estate Management.

In my free time I also like to go on adventures with my son. We enjoy finding new trails to explore the most! I also knit and very much enjoy reading and could talk for hours about books.
